The Morton Economic Development Council has received many inquiries from our local businesses on which energy providers are best to consider. These inquiries have led us to investigate the various options available and provide the following recommendation:
If you use 15,000 kwh per year or less: Good Energy
The Village of Morton has recently enrolled with a buying group through Good Energy to provide electricity supply cost savings for residents and small businesses. They are anticipating a cost savings of $125 - $150 per year for households and small businesses. To take advantage of this new rate you will simply need to wait until May/June of 2012 to receive notice of the new energy supplier. In the meantime, do not sign up with an alternative supplier or you will not be eligible for this program. More information: 309-245-4566
If you use over 15,000 kwh per year: BlueStar Energy Solutions
If your business uses over 15,000 kwh per year, you are eligible to move from Ameren to BlueStar Energy Solutions, the energy provider that the Morton EDC has chosen as a partner and the Preferred Service Provider of electricity for Morton businesses.
BlueStar Energy Solutions is an independent retail electricity supplier based in Chicago. They were recently named the #1 Fastest Growing Energy Supplier in the US by Inc. Magazine and they are also the preferred partner of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Automobile Dealers Association. Their energy rates are typically 15%-25% lower than Ameren.
