WHAT IS THE MEMORIAL PLAZA?
The Memorial Plaza will be a gathering place for our community and will help advance the redevelopment of our Downtown. The plaza will be built on a vacant lot located on the east side of Main Street, between Dairy Queen and So Chic Boutique, owned by the Village of Morton. Construction is set to start Spring of 2016 and completed by the Fall.
WHAT WILL BE IN THE PLAZA?
Plans for the Plaza include a shaded seating area, water feature, Veterans Memorial, children's play areas for younger and older age groups, and public restrooms. Lighting, water, electricity, and sound are incorporated into the plans to allow the space to be used for community events. Our video shows all of the wonderful features!
HOW MUCH DO WE NEED TO RAISE?
The Village of Morton has agreed to fund up to $1 Million for the new Plaza from their Business District Fund if we can raise a matching $1 Million privately. While construction is getting under way, we still need your help to meet our fundraising goal.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
The Morton Community Foundation has a special fund established for the Memorial Plaza. The foundation is a 501C3 which allows donations to this project to be tax deductible. Once the campaign is complete, the funds will be used by the Village of Morton to pay for the construction of the new Plaza.
