VandenBerg Receives Venture Award

January 12, 2010 - Morton, IL:  Today, the Morton Economic Development Council recognized Katie VandenBerg as the 2010 Morton Venture Award Winner during their Annual Investor Appreciation Luncheon at the Ashland House in Morton.  VandenBerg, owner of Eli's Coffee Shop on Jefferson Street in Morton is a young entrepreneur with a successful and growing enterprise in Morton's downtown district.

"Katie started Eli’s in 2005 while working another job," said Tom Menold, winner of the 2009 Morton Venture Award and owner of Menold Construction and Restoration.  "She has built her clientele at Eli’s with a great atmosphere, excellent food and excellent customer service.  Katie is involved in community leadership, she hosts charitable fundraising events at Eli’s, and uses sustainable practices in her business,"

Eli's is celebrating their 5th Anniversary this year and has seen steady growth in their customer base and profits.  "I see many of my customers here in this room," said VandenBerg as she accepted the award.  "You are successful business owners and managers and I admire all of you."
