The Morton Economic Development Council will be hosting a second trip to China this October 12-20. The trip will include stops in Beijing, Taintai, and Shanghai and will once again be a mixture of getting to know the culture of China through sight seeing and also spending time developing reltationships with China businesses and Morton's Sister City, Tiantai.  "We are eager to continue developing our relationships with Tiantai and several of the companies that we met with when we were in China last October," said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC.

Today, the Morton Economic Development Council announced that Paul Grethey Jr., new owner of Johnson’s Floral, is the fourth recipient of the Morton MicroGrant.  “We couldn’t be happier for Paul,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC.  “The extensive remodeling, technology improvements, and staff expansion he is undertaking at Johnson’s Floral is impressive.”

Blain's Farm & Fleet - Janesville, WI – APRIL 1, 2013 – Blain’s Farm & Fleet plans to build a new 127,000 square foot store and remain in Village of Morton. Blain’s Farm & Fleet has been a member of the Morton community since 1974. The new store will be located on the south side of Courtland Avenue at the intersection of North Morton Avenue.

Morton, IL – October 25, 2012 – Today, the Morton Economic Development Council announced that Nelson Global Products, the parent company that owns Morton Industries and BSI, will expand in Morton, Illinois.  “We are making a significant investment in this state-of-the-art facility to keep BSI positioned as the premier handrail supplier to the off-highway, mining, and construction industries, and I am thrilled to announce that Morton will once again be the home of BSI.” said the General Manager of BSI, James Knepp.

The Morton Economic Development Council recently announced that American Tire Distributors Inc. will build a new 120,000 square foot distribution center on Erie Street in Morton. Construction will begin as early as this spring. “This new 6 Million dollar facility will generate 40 new jobs with an annual payroll of $1.6 Million,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC. “This is an exciting and impactful project for Morton.”

Today, the Morton Economic Development Council announced that Larry Huff, owner of the new Amish Choice Wood Furniture store in Morton, is the recipient of a $2,500 Morton MicroGrant.  “Larry is bringing an exciting new retail store to our community that will create two full time jobs and one part time job and offer a line of high-quality furniture products that Morton can be proud to have,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton Economic Development Council.  “His $66,000 investment to start a new business in Morton is appreciated.  We were happy to provide a small grant to assist him in h

December 6, 2013 – Morton, IL - By early spring of 2013, the Village of Morton will be home to a new Kroger fuel center, currently under construction next to the Kroger food store in the Morton Plaza.  “At Kroger we try to find ways to provide overall and ongoing value along with convenience to our shoppers,” said John Elliott, Public Affairs Manager for Kroger Central Division.  “We believe adding this fuel center to our Morton Kroger food store will provide both to our customers.”

October 26, 2012 – Morton, IL - Today, the Morton Economic Development Council announced that Rose Hubbard, Morton Resident and Artist, is the second recipient of the Morton MicroGrant. Her new business, Jefferson Street Studio & Gallery, will open this month in a beautiful brick house on Jefferson Street in Downtown Morton. “Rose is adding another unique, retail element to our downtown district,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC. “The Morton MicroGrant committee was unanimous in their support of her plan.

This September, a new furniture and accessory consignment shop will open in Downtown Morton.  Owner Nora Butler is eager to begin a new phase of her life as a retailer.  “My kids are grown now, so I have more time,“ said Butler.  “I have always been interested in furniture and design.  I thought this was a good time and opportunity to do something I really enjoy doing.”
