Morton EDC Seeks Venture Award Nominations
The Morton Economic Development Council (Morton EDC) announced today that nomination forms for the Morton Venture Award, an award designed to recognize outstanding entrepreneurs who have started and grown companies in the community, have been released. “Entrepreneurship is a critical component of economic prosperity for any community,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Morton EDC. “We want to recognize the contribution these unique business owners make to Morton.”
The Morton Venture Award criteria include proven leadership skills, a track record of business success, and someone who leads by example. “Morton is privileged to have many great business leaders,” said Jim Benckendorf, President of the Board for the Morton EDC. “This award is designed to recognize that special owner for his or her ability to inspire their staff and all those with whom they work. We want to promote the individual who has the ability to excel as a leader and innovator in their own job and the community, while they instill the desire in those around them to excel in all areas.”
The 2009 Morton Venture Award winner was Tom Menold, owner of Menold Construction and Restoration. Menold will be announcing the winner of the 2010 award at the Morton EDC’s Annual Investors Luncheon in January. Nomination forms for the award are currently available at www.mortonedc.org. Business entrepreneurs are encouraged to nominate themselves for the award as well as others. The deadline to submit nominations is November 30, 2009.
